For the majority of these people, dog obedience training is a very important part of pet ownership, allowing the owners to train their dogs to adapt to the life that they will now lead, whether it be in an apartment, a home with a large backyard, or within a farming community. By training the dog quickly, the owner increases the chances that everyone will be happy with the new member of the family and that the typical frustrations that come with dog ownership can be avoided or eliminated quickly. Dog obedience training is important for a number of reasons and the reasons can vary depending on what type of home the dog has been placed in and the personal preferences of the dog's owner. For example, a person that has purchased a dog to be a companion in their apartment may want to train their dog not to bark at all while the person that owns a home may want to train their dog to only bark when someone is near to the home. It is important that before the dog obedience training is begun, the dog owner knows what they would like to accomplish with the obedience training and communicate these wishes during the training or to the person that has been hired to train the dog. There are several different ways that a dog owner can go about providing dog obedience training for their loved companion. Many people that feel uncomfortable or unable to train their dog to their satisfaction as quickly as they would like often hire a professional dog trainer to handle the training of their canine. Other individuals choose to train their dog on their own, using books and other reference materials to determine the best way to conduct the training. The most important thing to remember about dog obedience training is that dogs are generally easy to teach and eager to learn. If the training is conducted with love and an amount of fun and adventure is injected into the training, the dog will enjoy the training and will be eager to demonstrate correctly whatever it is that the trainer is attempting to teach them. It is also important to recognize when either the trainer or the dog is tired of the training, as trying to teach proper behavior when tired will lead to stress, anxiety, and increased mistakes that will frustrate both the dog and the owner.
