3 Useful Dog Training Accessories to Consider

Because there are a number of different ways to train a dog and hundreds of things that a dog can be trained to do, there are a number of different dog training accessories that can be used by the dog owner to assist in training their dog. These accessories are generally created for a specific purpose or to help the dog accomplish a specific feat. Choosing the correct dog training accessories to help with the training process can make the entire process safer, more effective, and easier for the dog to learn.

Some of the basic accessories that are generally used in dog training include a collar, a leash, a crate, dog toys, and dog treats. Many of the more sophisticated dog training accessories are variations of these basic elements, modified to encourage or deter a specific type of action. When these basic items are modified, they become much more effective at training the dog to perform or refrain from the action that you are attempting to train.

One of the most ingenious dog training accessories that have appeared in recent years is the no barking collar. These collars are electronic collars that are placed on the dog when the owner is away or in other situations where the dog is prone to barking and the dog's owner would like the barking to cease. The collar is activated by vibration and sound and delivers a mild electric shock to the dog if it begins to bark while the collar is on.

Another one of the most popular dog training accessories today is the electronic invisible fence and collar combination. These sets use a series of wires and connectors beneath the ground to communicate to a collar around the dog's neck to let the dog know the boundaries of the area where he is allowed to go. This allows the dog to be restricted to a specific area without having to place a large fence on the property that the dog may be able to climb over or dig under anyway.

Most people who allow their dogs to range a wide area, such as on a farm, find that a dog whistle is the perfect dog training accessory for calling their canine companions in for the night. A whistle allows the owner to call the dog using a specific noise without having to yell or strain their voice. After the dog has learned what command the whistle conveys, they will respond to it and come to you, even if you have moved homes or are visiting a different area.
